Buika (Concha Buika)

Concha Buika, known professionally as Buika, is a celebrated Spanish singer, composer, and songwriter of African descent. Raised in a Roma community in Mallorca, she draws profound inspiration from jazz, flamenco, soul, and African polyrhythms.

She began her career in the 1990s, performing in Madrid’s vibrant music clubs. Her album “Mi Niña Lola” (2006) achieved gold record status and was recognized as the best Spanish album of the year.

Buika is a two-time Latin Grammy Award winner, receiving accolades for “El Último Trago” (2009) and “La Noche Más Larga” (2013). She has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Carlos Santana, Chick Corea, Seal, and Pedro Almodóvar.

In 2022, she was honored with the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, bestowed by King Felipe VII of Spain.

Most recently, she served as a judge on the international talent show “Operación Triunfo” on Amazon Prime Video.
