Yasmin Levy

One of the most renowned world music singers, Yasmin Levy was born in Jerusalem and performs in the Ladino language, spoken by Sephardic Jews. This tradition is deeply rooted in her family — her father, Yitzhak Levy, was a researcher and advocate for the preservation of Judeo-Spanish culture, whose origins trace back to 15th-century Spain.

In her deep and moving vocal style, Yasmin both preserves and revives the most beautiful songs of the Judeo-Spanish Ladino heritage, blending them with Andalusian flamenco.

Since the beginning of her career, Yasmin Levy has performed with great success around the world. In 2004, she appeared at numerous international festivals and cultural events, including WOMAD in Singapore, Forum Barcelona, and the BBC’s New Year’s concert in London. In 2005, she toured Europe and the United States, performing at London’s Ronnie Scott’s and at the WOMAD festivals in both the UK and Spain. In November 2005, she was featured on the UK’s most prestigious music television show, “Later with Jools Holland,” and in December she closed the year with a performance at one of the world’s most iconic concert venues — Carnegie Hall in New York.

The following years brought more tours and performances in prestigious venues across the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, and Lithuania. Her 2007 album Mano Suave was distributed worldwide by the esteemed label Harmonia Mundi.
